Kenya π°πͺ is gearing up to construct a $13.8 billion high speed electric railway connecting its Lamu Port to Ethiopia πͺπΉ and South Sudan πΈπΈ
Construction is expected to begin in 2025, covering 3,000 km and forming part of the $22 billion LAPSSET corridor.
The project will entail the following:
- A port at Manda Bay, Lamu, Kenya;
- A standard gauge railway line to Juba in South Sudan and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia;
- Road network;
- Oil pipelines (Southern Sudan and Ethiopia);
- An oil refinery at Bargoni, Kenya;
- Three airports;
- Three resort cities.
