Introduction - What is TokenBB?
TokenBB (@tokenbb) is a free, remotely hosted, blockchain powered message board (forum) service that helps people create their own online communities. TokenBB comes with a host of capabilities that are not possible on any other Steem applications, namely:
- Creating categories
- Moving topics to the appropriate category
- Removing Spam
- Ban/Unban users
- Sticky Posts
- Forum owner beneficiary rewards
- Much, much more in the works ...
TokenBB...Now Powered by BuildTeam!
We are pleased to announce that TokenBB, the Steem powered forum software built by @cryptoctopus & @kareniel is now a service powered by BuildTeam!
@cryptoctopus remains vested in the project and now guides its development as Product Manager of Tokenbb and a welcome member to the BuildTeam family.
Everyone is really excited about this recent development as there is no doubt in anyone's mind that TokenBB is truly an amazing product. It promises to revolutionize the way that forums and bulletin boards across the internet reward their users.
Although TokenBB is currently still in closed alpha, it is hard not to be impressed by how well it was built and we are working around the clock to open the first forum to the public.
The market for TokenBB forums
Not all forums are fit to be tokenized and gamified. For example, a message board for Christian or Buddhist conversations doesn't fit with the culture of those forums.
On the other hand, blockchain and gaming communities are a perfect match for forums that incentivise their users.

1. Social Action Forums - @CleanPlanet Project
CleanPlanet aims to reward people for cleaning up the area where they live. They are already doing this and people are filming themselves picking up garbage. It's really nice and it gives people an incentive to clean the world around them.
A forum where people share what they did and get rewarded by the moderators and other users for doing good deeds is definitely a need that isn't being filled by the current forum software.
2. Gaming Communities - @SteemMonsters, @Chibera, etc.
What if you could crowdsource most or all of the fan art, mods, maps, game guides, etc. for your game by rewarding the creators with tokens? Imagine if the people who earn those token rewards can then redeem them for purchases of in-game items and upgrades.
Furthermore, imagine if someone is passionate about creating StarCraft maps and can actually make a living doing so? For people who create games, this technology can really help them create enthusiasm for their games as well as being an interesting source of revenue from beneficiary rewards.
What is next for TokenBB?
BuildTeam is proud to announce that the first full implementation of the TokenBB application will be found on the @SteemMonsters forum!
Steem Monsters is a very dynamic community with a lot of contests, giveaways, announcements, fan art and stories. Forums are the best user interface to cater to this type of community and this is why we decided to lock arms with them for the alpha release of our application.
Thanks to the latest development in the SEO of Steem that allows the setting of the original source of the content (rel=canonical), the Steem Monsters forum will generate traffic from the search engines through the forum user-generated content!
The Steem Monsters forum should be live very soon! We will use this opportunity to gather as much feedback from the community as possible and quickly improve the user experience in preparation for TokenBB's Beta release.
