A Lot Of Money Involved
When a mega pop star or celebrity arrives into Toronto the Toronto media and even national media do make a big deal about it. There is a lot of money involved in this. Canadians are not much different than Americans when it comes supporting celebrities and pop culture.
According to Seatgeek.ca I check out the seat ticket prices. I wanted to see what ticket prices were like out of curiousity and see the insanity. Here is a screenshot I took this morning Thurs Nov 14, 2024.
One ticket of 2 887 CAD is an amazing deal supposedly. Lol.
There are additional costs such flight tickets for those who are really far from Toronto, transportation fees, and hotel fees. Hotel costs in Toronto are not cheap either. You could find rooms as low as 300 CAD for 2 adults for 1 night but usually they are 500 to 700 at the downtown Toronto area. The screenshot below shows two hotel rooms from Trivago.
According to the CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corportation) on October 15, 2024, it is expected that Taylor Swift's Eras Tour will generate 282 million CAD. Governments are expected to receive 40 million in tax revenue. Ah there it is. The tax revenue benefits. Maybe the tax can be used to prepare for the 2026 Fifa event joint with USA and Mexico. Maybe not.
Regardless of the projected numbers, having a mega pop star will boost the economy in Toronto. The local downtown businesses such as pubs, restaurants, retail stores, hotels gain business revenues.
Toronto Will Remember Taylor Swift
For many people in the Toronto area they will remember Taylor Swift. It is because of the news coverage, the additional traffic that comes along with it, screaming fans and the possible credit card debt from the fear of missing out.
According to Billboard.com a new signboard has been installed on November 4, 2024. This signboard says Taylor Swift Way near the concert venue Rogers Centre.
Taylor Swift is scheduled to continue singing in Canada. She is scheduled in Vancouver in December 2024.
