For whatever reason, it seemed like half the roads in town were closed down today. Railroad crossings were blocked off, freeway offramps full of cones and work trucks, random stretches of road marked off limits.
I drive around town every day and when there are going to be any road works, they always put signs up to warn people in advance, especially if they’re going to entirely block a road. Well, apparently they forgot to do that for all their projects they decided to start simultaneously today, which is also unusual because they usually only do a few projects at a time.
The only warning put up was for the railroad crossing closure project, but everything else was just started without warning! It was really frustrating since I drive all over the place and don’t really appreciate all the extra driving taking detours all over the place...
It’s times like this that make me wonder about what’s really going on and if anyone is actually in control of the public works. Randomly closing down roadways is something I would expect to happen somewhere under heavy development, but not here where most roads have been around my entire life. The only thing I could think of that made any sense was that a bunch of money and projects got the green light since it’s the new year and in the rush and excitement of it all they forgot to put signs up.
