Hello Everyone! It has been a long couple of days here. I finally got the van I bought to the house, I put the battery that was in the van on the charger and it would not charge up. So I had to go to Wal-Mart and get a cheap one to hold me till I get it started and all the kinks worked out of the van.
Put the new battery in the van and turned the key and nothing happened. I was kinda let down as I was told it would run, as it just had the rear end rebuilt in it. So it has a passport security system in it and it sat for a while so I thought I would reset the ECM and it would all be good.
So I did that it takes a few to do this as you have to cycle the key on and off three times and the key is on 10 minutes and off and then right back on. This is done three times, so it was a thirty-minute process with the battery charger on the new battery so it did not get below 12 volts. It did not work, the starter will still not spin when I turned the key. I knew the starter was good because I could use a screwdriver between the hot post on the starter and the solenoid and it would turn over.
When the mechanic shop had it they told me they went through it and it had a fuel problem, I did not find that problem because it was not there. The fuel pump came on and it was getting fuel. it all seemed good, what they did not tell me was someone, do not know if it was the mechanic shop or someone else, had been under the dash messing with all the wiring. So me and a friend spent all day trying to make heads or tails of the wiring. It was a mess so tomorrow I will be going to town to find a book for the van so we have the wiring diagrams for under the dash.
I do not know what they did to it but wires for the headlights turn on the emergency flashers and they never really stop going off, so not sure of the problems we will find. We did figure out when you turn the key to start the van the built-in TV comes on. I think it will be a complete rewire under the dash. Yes, it will be a fun time figuring it all out. That is the update of how it is going with the van so far. I hope everyone has a great night/day, whatever it is in your part of the world. Oh, Wish me luck with this van!
