After we had such a lovely time in Tuscany we continue our journey to the beautiful Lago Maggiore. The lake is located on the south side of the Alps. It is the second largest lake in Italy and the largest in southern Switzerland. The lake and its shoreline are divided between the Italian regions of Piedmont and Lombardy and the Swiss canton of Ticino.
We stayed two wonderful days on the Italian shoreline in the town Stresa. Stresa is a popular resort for many holidaymakers. There are many things you can experience and explore.
Nice restauraunts, boats tours, shopping, swimming, hiking ect. ect.
What a beautiful view we had from our apartment. We were lucky that we could book it last minute. And because we were six it wasn't that expensive.
if you're lucky you can own your own boat
the neighborhood of stresa with many shops and restaurants
One of the most popular tourist attractions are the Borromean Islands, with their stunning palaces and ornamental gardens, are an unmissable destination for aesthetes. For about 13 euro you can take a boat tour to the islands. And right next to the port you have the possibility to ride the cable car to the mountain top for only 19 Euros.
Please have a look what kind of stunning view you will get! No more words to say :)
Mount Mottarone is the highest mountain between Lake Maggiore and Lake Orta and is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape with the view over the Pianura Padana plain, the seven lakes of Piedmont and Lombardy (Lago Maggiore, Lake Orta, Mergozo Lake, Lago di Varese, Comabbiosee, the lake of the month and Biandronnosee) and the hills to the alpine chain (for example Monte Rosa).
