Today marks what would have been our last day on an all expenses paid vacation to Aruba. This was all made possible (originally) as a result of my wife's hard work, and a company that rewards the results of those actions.
So instead of complaining, I thought I'd share with you today's awards ceremony. And what better way to finish things off than with a few captivating images of Aruba? We'll make it there someday!
Typically, the brass of my wife's company (Homes.com) holds an awards ceremony/dinner in whatever paradise they send the top sales people to that year.
Instead, we joined together today from the comfort of our own homes in a virtual celebration.
Cheers to Covid-19!!! πππ
3 cheers to the leadership of a company that moved fast in the wake of current events. Before the shutdowns were even mandated, they moved to buy laptops and headsets for all sales associates.
They even supplied them to the training teams who my wife manages. Many of whom had just recently been hired. Because of their decisive actions, the sales floor in San Diego nearly met their original goal.
Though the company cut their goal expectations by 50%, my wife's team came just a few hundred short of their pre-pandemic $10,500 mark. All for the month of April and training from home. Wow!!
It all made today's award ceremony that much more meaningful. Here's a shot of the plaque the company sent my wife which will go on her desk when she returns to work.
A glass memorial tells the tale of a successful year managing the new hires. Here's a shot of Erin the company posted as she received her award today!
Notice the other winners on the right in the video chat room. Everyone was in a good mood despite not being in Aruba.
The company must have been able to get a refund because they gave all the winners cash in lieu of the trip. That definitely helped with the mood.
As promised, I'll end here with a few pics of an island paradise we'll have to visit if we again have the opportunity. At least I have my passport now.
The sign goes at the end so we know our way there the next time. Hope you enjoyed and have a grateful day.
I'll end with the quote the company displayed at the ceremony today. It's an excerpt of a wise elderly wizard speaking to one of the wee folk.
βI wish it need not have happened in my time,β said Frodo.
βSo do I,β said Gandalf, βand so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.β
See ya in the next blog.
