A Salty Passageway in the Mines of Wieliczka
Kraków, Poland
During the last day of @steemfest 3 in Kraków, Poland, we trekked through the Salt Mine's of Wieliczka to arrive at our closing dinner. The Mines of Wieliczka began producing salt in the 13th century and is rich with history. We walked along a small portion of the 2.2 mile touring route (which is less than 2% of the length of the mine's total passages). Along the way we saw intricate statues and monuments carved into the rock salt to honor mythical figures and fallen miners. Here is a photo of a salty passageway in the mine. My flash illuminated the walls which lets you see the salty surface.
