What you're seeing in the picture is what we Norwegians call "Havrebrød" it can't be translated directly, but it means something akin to "Oat-bread". This Oat-bread is in fact one of Norway's national dishes. It has been eaten here for millennia, it is in fact the only food we've seen in cave paintings. People theorize that this is because the types of oats the bread is made of grew so quickly that even nomadic peoples have time to grow and harvest it.
The bread in the picture is made by me. The recipe is incredibly easy to follow.
Mix 100 grams of non-processed oats in a bowl.
Might water, salt and normal flour in the same bowl.
Let the water absorb into the grains. This should take 10 minutes.
One the dough has a uniform texture, roll the dough into small lumps.
Squeeze the lumps flat. They should be roughly 1/2 cm thick and have 10 cm in diameter.
5.1 Adding extra flour might be important here, as the dough can be quite sticky.Put the lumps in an oven set to 180 degrees.
Take them out when they look like the picture. The holes can be gotten by using a stick.
Enjoy! The bread should be ready to eat. This type of bread goes well with butter or jam, but it's also amazing on its own.
