That’s awesome! I spent 3 nights in Venice this past week. It’s so loud and you can hear everything when you’re trying to sleep! Lots of gypsies, but great views!I love Venice. So sad that it's not a functioning city unto itself any longer.

I did the exact same 2 years ago. Spent New Year dead in the centre and got up at 5am to catch a train for a day out. It's so eerie.

I wish I went on an early morning walk while I was there. Would have been nice to see the city without a million people cramped on the streets.

Lido is still very convenient with the water buses if anyone was after a lie-in. There's beaches too (although maybe not ideal at this time of year).

Celebrated New Year in Venice and went for a walk at 7 am on January 1st.| Travel, so much fun and enjoyed.
