Steemfest 3 is finished, and there have been many Krakow posts but I wanted this one on the blockchain to look back at in months or years to come.
@bingbabe was complaining that we hadn’t seen much of city, with SF3 and its activities taking the bulk of our time.
We stayed an extra day just for this reason and on the Monday morning after many had left strolled up to the city center.
We went to the square briefly the day before when the celebrations were happening and it was insanely busy, with people clambering over the statues in the center.
The next day was much more subdued, and we re-visited the Hard Rock to exchange a hoodie I got that was too small for me. I’m just getting far too fat, a side effect of getting old.
The city is a mixture of the old iron curtain days combined with more modern outlets like the Hard Rock Café in which we bought a few souvenirs.
There was a lot of graffiti evident in the city, and sometimes on doors like this one. The door looks like its dropping apart but is probably sturdier than it appears.
If you look more closely at the lock it’s new and has been used recently. This is no Urban Exploration area.
Much of the architecture is old and gothic in appearance. Note the green structure attached to this church.
Cars park on the pavement (sidewalk) here. It's OK to do this, but there are still parking meters.
Horse and Cart’s are for the tourists I suspect. We didn’t hire one, but they look very picturesque and are quite common on the streets.
We didn’t visit the castle due to lack of time. It’s an impressive looking building.
Pretzels were on sale everywhere by way of the street sellers. 1.70PZ is outstandingly cheap for one of these. That’s 45 cents in US money. The bread was big and fresh.
Closer to town and the price increases to 1.80PZ. The square will probably be even more. This sister was hungry and trying what was on offer.
We would have liked more time to explore Krakow. I suppose we didn’t really come for this reason, but I’m sure we missed lots, and there’s much more to see.
