Today, I bring you the second part of my amazing trip to Iceland.
The day started off waking up at 7:15 am to get changed. I slowly got out of bed, after an Okay night sleep. I put on my old clothes because I knew that we were not going anywhere fancy.
Our teacher knocked on our door at 7:30 am, to make sure everyone was awake for the day ahead. She told us we needed to be at the lounge area on our floor for 7:50 am. My roommate and I had woke up early and were ahead of schedule, so we decided to just relax for a while and go on our phones. It wasn't long before it was 7:45 and we needed to head to the lounge area. We met up with the rest of the students from my school and we headed down for breakfast. I had some Cereal, fruit and toast.
After this, we went back up to our rooms to collect the item we needed for the day ahead. We then went back down and got on the coach.

We arrived at Hellisheidi Geothermal Power Station - the second largest geothermal power station in the world.

It was made to provide electricity for the city of Reykjavik - which holds a third of the whole population of Iceland.
Geothermal power stations heat up water. That water vapour is then sent through a steam turbine, where the heat is converted into electricity using a generator through a process called electromagnetic induction.

After this, we got back onto the coach and set back off to go to the next place - the volcanic crater/lake - Kerið.
It was a 25 mile journey and took us around half an hour, but the wait was definitely worth it. The lake was all frozen up but it still looked amazing. It was 55 metres deep and over 3000 years old. It was stunning

After we walked around the volcanic crater, we made our way back to the coach. I was a little bit disappointed that we didn't get to go down into the volcanic crater but because there was a lot of activities packed into one day we had to head to the next exciting place...
