Salisbury is an ancient cathedral city that people have travelled to for centuries. We went there for a slightly different reason this weekend. Terry Pratchett lived near Salisbury and the local museum has an exhibit dedicated to him. It contains some of his possessions as well as lots of art inspired by his work. It also had an opportunity for dressing up!
There's his typewriter and early editions of his books. Also in this case is a sword he made after being knighted.
Pterry (as he is sometimes known] loved technology and this recreation of his desk shows that. He really did have six monitors. When asked why he replied that there was no room for eight!
He has worked closely with a few artists, including Paul Kidby. There were more of his works on display.
It was a poignant visit for us as we loved his books and it's sad there will be no more. We met him once at a convention years ago. He was dedicated to his fans.
There is more to see in Salisbury. The cathedral is the big attraction. The scale is amazing for something that old.
Some amazing stone carving on it.
We stayed at Sarum College, which is right next to the cathedral. They rent out some rooms when they are not used by students. It's fairly basic, but more interesting than a generic hotel.
You have to be careful about staying out late as the gates are locked at 11pm. It is possible to get a key if you need it.
Steem on!
I'll buy guitar picks for Steem Dollars
