In 10 days we traveled on 3 trains , the Trans Alpine , The Kingston Flyer and the Taieri Gorge railway, cruised across Lake Wakatipu to Walter Peak Sheep Station onboard the TSS Earnslaw, enjoyed the Warbirds Over Wanaka air show and we flew in a helicopter to the top of a mountain above Franz Josef Glacier.

I have flown in many helicopters but it was my families first flight and it was a special experience. We were blessed with a crystal clear blue sky and the landing on the top of the mountain overlooking the Franz Josef Glacier and the view of the snow capped mountains was breathtaking.
We flew with Glacier Heliventures in their McDonnell-Douglas 520N helicopter (ZK-HFJ )
