Higashi Hongan-ji temple is considered as one of the great Buddhist temples that is popular in Kyoto, Japan. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Higashi_Hongan-ji)
It is situated very near to Kyoto Station. (just 10 minutes’ walk)
This Buddhist temple in Japan is totally different from the Buddhist temples in Thailand.
Higashi Hongan-ji temple has many gates and each gate is very magnificent and this one below is called the Chrysanthemum Gate which is, I think, the most beautiful one.
Most temples in Japan have a well with a ladle, which is used to purify the body and mind before paying respects to the Buddha or deity.
The buildings in Higashi Hongan-ji temple have magnificent architecture in Japanese style, especially the Founder’s Hall or the Goei-do which is well-known as the largest wooden building in Kyoto and one of the largest buildings in the world. This building is also one of the most important structures in the temple.
The building called The Amida-do also has marvelous design.
The drawings are charming and attractive.
The hall is large and has excellent decoration. It looks peaceful.
Higashi Hongan-ji temple has good management and all over the area looks so clean and greenery.
It’s worth a visit indeed.
P.S. These pictures came from my daughter in law in Japan.
