There are 33 species of oceanic dolphins in the world (I say oceanic because there are also river dolphins). The most known is the so-called bottlenose dolphin. The life cycle of a male dolphin is thirty years. That of the female is forty years old. Same as the human being, most of the time dolphins have sex only for pleasure.
Each dolphin emits a sound that makes it unique and differentiates it from the other members of its species. This way they can recognize each other, even after a long time. They also communicate through body postures and use the fins to transmit messages.
Dolphins can reach 65 kilometers per hour. They need to go out every five minutes to breathe. They are curious and very playful. They are always having fun. That's why they love interacting with humans. It is hard to believe that these charismatic animals are some of the most effective predators on the planet. Thanks to the sound they emit, they can find food anywhere in the sea.
Unfortunately, every year thousands of dolphins seem to deliberately throw themselves to death, being stranded in the world’s coastlines. According to a theory, while protecting themselves from the storm they get too close to the seashore and the slope of the beach makes their placement signals confuse. The fat that keeps them warm in the sea causes their bodies to overheat quickly on the beach. It skin cracks, dries and eventually dies.
It enormous sensitivity is used throughout the world to treat people with special needs. The interaction with them has given surprising results and could not have been otherwise. It is said that dolphins are able to stimulate the release of tranquilizing endorphins in the human brain. The contact with the dolphins makes us happier and thanks to them our confidence tends to increase.
