I just popped my Vietjet cherry and flew with Vietjet airlines for the first time.
My first time was pretty good!!! I'll be back for more.
Better than Air Asia, actually, which is one of the main airlines for flying throughout Asia.
I highly recommend this airline if you’re flying anywhere within Vietnam, or to any place that Vietjet flies. They also fly to China, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia and South Korea!
So don't let the "Viet" part of the name fool you. They go outside of Vietnam as well.
The fares were cheap! But I did get a good deal. A friend told me they were running a sale for a month, so I gobbled it up!
When I got to the airport in Hanoi to check in, they said “sorry, you can’t check in now because you’re here too early. Come back at 8 pm to check in.”
I said, “But my flight leaves at 8:40 pm.”
The lady at the counter then told me that my flight was delayed until 11 pm.
That was kind of a bummer. I was way too exhausted to deal with being forced to stay up late, but remember one of the biggest rules of traveling is to expect the unexpected and go with the flow.
Stop freaking the fudge out and just calm down a little.
But then something unexpected and great happened.
She said I could just go up to the ticket counter and ask them to change my flight to an earlier one, free of charge. I ended up getting to leave at 8 pm instead of 8:40 and shaved 40 minutes off of my wait time!
Score!!!
That’s one way to get lucky on a school night.
I just really enjoyed everything about my flight experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful.
They only charged me 120k Dong ( $6 USD) to check my luggage. Which is amazing, because air asia charges way more than that and if you have a layover, they charge you twice.
My meal on the plane was only 22k ($1 USD).
The workers on the plane didn’t even care that I had my laptop on the whole flight (takeoff and landing included) typing up steemit posts like a madwoman.
I really appreciated the extra gesture of kindness of letting me change my flight.
Just letting you know to check out Vietjet air if you ever travel around Asia (they should pay me for this lol).
Pro Tip
If you see a sale going on, and can plan your travel ahead of time (without having a break down because you're not good enough at adulting to plan ahead of time), buy as many tickets as you can for as many legs of your journey as you need!
Check for sales often, 'cause ya never know when you'll see one!
Same goes for booking a place through booking.com.
I just scored a SWEET deal for $5USD/ night for a room nicer than I've stayed in for awhile, just by checking for several days and then a flash deal popped up.
It’s a great way to travel around while saving some major moolah.
