We’ve been taking a silly little boat ride each day this week - about 7 minutes each morning from San Juan to Brown Island. It’s so close, it feels like one could swim it. Trying would be suicide in these freezing sea waters though, so the boat is a nice touch. We hauled all of Tawm’s arborist gear into the water taxi on Monday and stored it on Brown for the week.
I’m still adjusting to how picture-esque everything about these islands is. Hard to believe I’m actually living in this paradise! This is the view from Brown Island, facing San Juan:
We’ve been taking out some trees and pruning others as usual, Grand Firs and Madronas for the most part. I’m still not doing anything with chainsaws so far, but Tawm has been saying that I’ll be learning saw skills soon. My job is still just hauling and chipping big sticks, otherwise I watch and assist this crazy guy:
Today we finish up at our last job site on Brown and move everything back to San Juan for the next client. Thanks for stopping by, friends! Stay tuned for more tree schleppin’ madness!
