The Law of Mentalism - plays out here because the canvas starts out as a blank white space - we sit in front of the still life and mentally compose the painting - and we are purposeful in our composition - holding the space as empty in our minds so that we can find the colors to mix and make it work - Yellow Ochre, Burnt Umber, White, Ultramarine Blue, Emerald Green, Cadmium Red Medium, Scarlet Lake, Cadmium Yellow Light - this is the only thing that occupies our minds - besides the use of the paint brush to measure the ratio of the size of the still life to the size of our canvas and the placement of the object to form a compelling composition.
Meditation, once again. No thoughts of anything but what is here and now. The light coming through the window creating a highlight that will soon be gone and the desk lamp shining on the object and the drapery.
The Law of Correspondence: As above, so below - as within, so without - once again I used artistic license to bring the drapery into the foreground and paint that - next to the rigidity of the cube because that's my fave - in blue and then bringing in the Yellow Ochre to warm up the drapery a bit - and the cherry wood cabinet behind and the peak of the cherry wood table under the drapery creating a diagonal framework for the Kleenex Box... my personality comes through ... my sense of humor and my preference for abstraction... and it reflects my life - my focus always on the esoteric, learning about the macrocosm from the microcosm...
The Law of Polarity is expressed in the gradation between Yellow Ochre and Green - the blending and the lights and shadows - only a few very dark polarizing parts of this painting.
Once again it comes up about the use of black. I am very opposed to using black now. It represents the intellect to me now. In my learning and understanding of what happened to humans - we were once hominids and happy in our heavenly experience of earth until Enlil and Enki came and changed our brains and gave us intellect through some form of genetic modification and our problems have been that fear producing broken part of our brains, ever since - black is the true absence of light - darkness usually has a color - and found in combining a color with it's compliment. The red is combined with the emerald green and some burnt sienna. Kleenex box is met with burnt sienna against the ochre and green backdrop... black is Satanic in my mind.
Vibration - Color is vibrational frequency - it's all retinal agreement.
Rhythm - the Red, the Green, the Ochre the White, the Ochre, the Blue, the Sienna - hard edges and soft folds...the Kleenex itself almost seems related to the drapery as the 2 red blocks are related.
Cause and Effect - the effect is the painting and the cause is our intention -
Gender - Red is masculine, Blue is feminine. Warm is masculine, cool is feminine. Push is masculine, pull is feminine. Hard edges are masculine, soft folds are feminine.
The Lost Law of Care - we did it. I drove an hour and half in 2 directions. My friend paid for the upgraded zoom. We sat for 3 hours and did the work. I seem to have thrown my back out as a result of how I was sitting. Care - we could have been home watching Netflix but we believe in what we are doing and we are committed.
