In a August 15, 2024 news briefing Trump stood before a table full of food on one side of him, and a table that had charts propped up describing how food prices were through the roof. (45:09 into video) "Up 46% eggs, wow, up 65% school lunches, wow, how can a family afford that." Trump turns his attention to the food on the other table, "look at this over here, what a nice job, I think I am going to take some of them back to my cottage and have a lot of fun. Like the Cheerios, I haven't seen Cheerios in a long time. I am going to take them back with me. Bacon is through the roof, they are all through the roof, the milk, everything is bad, and we're gonna straighten it out and we're going to bring prices way down, and we're going to get it done fast."
In a double whammy added insult, he not only quips about people not being able to afford the increased price in food, but instead of donating it, he says he's going to take it back to his cottage with him so he can have some fun with it. Never mind kids going to bed hungry, people struggling to keep a roof over their heads, or just plain people that are homeless and in need, nah, his thoughts are about how much fun he can have with that food in one of his multiple residences. If that isn't total disconnect, I don't know what is.
