Please, If I learned anything from this experience is the importance of How We Say Things. It isn’t what we say that is important, but how we say it that leaves the greatest impact. It takes time to master that skill and I encourage more people to embrace that journey of mastery. The way we say things can create a safe container for others or put people instantly on the defensive.
This issue is pervasive in our society, as I’ve been reminded recently by several forcefully rude individuals. There is a proper way to communicate with others and there is a completely inappropriate way to speak/message others. I personally won’t stand for disrespectful behavior, as I recently made clear in a post this weekend, regarding someone not being capable of creating a safe dance space. May the chapter provide further insight into my strong personal beliefs that it is not acceptable to treat other people this way, a lesson I learned the hard way.
I also hope this chapter helps people understand that we all make mistakes. However, those mistakes are teachers to help us be better, not to repeat the same mistakes over and over again. We all must understand the effects our actions have on others, and this experience taught me more about myself than I ever understood before. We have to be careful not to let our toxic emotions overpower good judgment. After a moment of losing complete control, It would take all my efforts to Never make that same mistake again…
