It is almost exactly 1 year since I was banned from Twitter on 6th April 2022. I was banned for "threatening violence" against someone when I quoted Monty Python and said "now write it out a hundred times or I'll cut your balls off".
A few times over the last year I've appealed my conviction and punishment and always the appeal was rejected. Until today.
A few days ago I put in another appeal and this time I said I would like to subscribe to Twitter Blue for $8 per month but only on my old original Brian of London account.
Well son of a gun.... it seems that offering to become a paid user of Twitter and agreeing to remove the violating tweet was all it took and I'm back on the bird site with my original Brian of London account.

I will subscribe to Twitter Blue but I'm not allowed to do it straight away. There is either a 30 day or 3 day waiting period (it's not easy to understand the way the terms are written) but whenever it allows me, I'll give Elon my money.
I'm doing this because I think Elon's experiment here of taking something which people got for free: use of Twitter, and starting to charge for it, is a grand experiment.
If you use Twitter as a way to funnel traffic to other projects and businesses, there is a valid reason for him to charge for it. Obviously he's getting to monetize my content in other ways as well, but I'm really interested to see if he manages to turn Twitter into a proper business.
I value Twitter, I'm going to give a bit of financial value, in addition to the value I give as content. Lets see what happens next.
