I'll be creating multiple posts over the next few days about my experience seeing the band U2 at the newly opened Sphere concert arena in Las Vegas, because like the venue itself, there's far too much to take in with one post.
Here's an intro. The outdoor picture is from when I was walking towards it one morning. Without any of its exterior lights on, it looks like a gigantic blue marble drops smack into the heart of the Sunset Strip.
Inside, 18,000 spectators were treated to a dazzling array of imagery and crystal clear sound. That little turntable-looking thing in the second picture? That's the stage & the band. The curved edge behind them is the floor edge. The view of the open desert and sunlight, the large post emitting steam; all imagery on the curved inner surface. There will be more of that to come.
Getting back to the stage, there was no need for adornments or equipment beyond instruments and microphones. It was perfect in its simplicity. The venue provided all of the adornments necessary. Two hours of all-encompassing sight, sound, and even smell to dazzle the mind.
My next post will highlight my pre-show activities. See you then.
