It is truly awesome being a "Steemian" aside from being a part of a vibrant and passionate community, each day is an opportunity to discover new and cool stuff about, basically, anything under the sun. As you might have already known from my previous blog-post or my profile description I am a Cryptocurrency /Blockchain /DLT enthusiast. Ergo I delve in topics related to that such technologies. If you don't have any Idea what those are, no worries, you don't need to know them to appreciate them. An analogy can be said when using a computer, you don't need to know the details how the computer works, you just know that it is useful and helps you to do activities faster and more convenient.

Let's just say that this technology enables platforms like Steemit to exist and be able to do whatever it has set out to do. Steemit has set out to disrupt how social networking works and introduce new ways on how to incentivize the least prioritized actors (in revenue sharing) in social network spectrum: content creators. Relative to other social network platform, Steemit, is still new but is already considered by many as a success. In fact Steemit is so successful that is widely considered the number one decentralized social networking site in terms of users, traffic, related dapps and market capitalization. It has not only impressed pundits but other cryptocurrency projects as well. Many of them have some way or another have partnered with Steemit to leverage its business model and popularity and to bring in their own value proposition in the partnership.

One such project is Byteball which I have known for a while now since I have participated in their "Full Moon airdrops" last year. That is why I got really excited when a fellow steemian, @mermaidvampire shared in our @steemitpowerupph group chat that there is a specially designed Airdrop of Byteball for Steemians. I have always been equally impressed by the technology of Byteball and its innovative way of distribution and I am glad that they are bringing it is the platform.
What is it?
Basically the Byteball Airdrop is FREE MONEY GIVEN OUT TO STEEMIAN BASED ON THEIR REPUTATION. Yes it is free money. There is only a simple task you have to do in return that is to attest that you own the Steemit account that you are claiming for. You do this by using the sophisticated Byteball wallet and linking it to your Steemit Account using SteemConnect. You don't have to worry this initiative in sanctioned by the offical team of Byteball and from my experience in the past participating in their Airdrop it is really legitimate.
How much can you get?
The amount of Byteball you will receive depends on the reputation score you have. This is the number usually shown beside our username. As you can see below my reputation score is 61. Therefore I will get is around $80 USD worth of Byteball.
$80 USD Reward $40 is withdraw-able while the other half is locked. Just in case you are wondering I had an extra $10 from the previous "Full Moon Airdrops"
- Steem reputation above 30: you get a $10 reward
- Steem reputation above 40: you get a $20 reward
- Steem reputation above 50: you get a $40 reward
- Steem reputation above 60: you get a $80 reward
- Steem reputation above 70: you get a $160 reward
Steemians that are lesser than 30 in reputation will not get any reward. This was decided by the Byteball team to remove spam and fraudulent accounts that might try abuse the free airdrop. Furthermore thereis an additional condition on the release of your rewards. Initially when you get your airdrop you will only be able to withdraw only half of your reward as the other half will be locked in a smart contract that can be redeemed after a year. I am not sure why the group opted to do this, however it might be a part of their strategy to keep users from leaving the platform after getting their rewards. Now that being said let me show you exactly how it is done.
How to participate in the Airdrop?
First you have to download the Byteball Wallet. If you have not done so please use this link to download it.

You can choose from the many available versions of the wallet. They provide the same functionality therefore it does not matter which version you choose it will work the same way. After downloading the wallet install it and run it. Once you run it you will be asked to create a wallet. It is pretty much straight forward you just need to follow in instructions on screen. When done you will be presented with this screen. Tap or click on the "Chat" menu to go
When you click or tap on the "Chat" menu you will be presented with the screenshot below. Make sure you are in the "Bot Store" tab. In that tab look for the "Steem attestation bot" selection. Click or Tap that selection to enter the "Steem attestation chat bot."
Once you are there in Steem attestation bot chat room you will immediately be greeted by the chat bot. It will tell you more about the attestation bot, the conditions to get rewarded and the procedure on how to do it. What we need here is to just input the byteball wallet in the message field. The easiest way to do this is to just to just tap or click on the three horizontal dots located on the lower left of the screen. Clicking on it will show you some options. What you need here is to insert your Byteball address therefore select the "Insert my address". This will insert your Byteball address in the message field then click or tap send.
Once you have send your Byteball address it will begin attestation of your Byteball address. For those who wants to know what is it is just a task to prove that this byteball address is owned by the same person who owns the same account in steemit account. Thus this will require you to verify that you really own the Steemit it account through the use of SteemConnect.
You will be presented with a link of steemConnect as showned above. This is the similar process of logging in condensers like ulog or busy. Just click on that and input your credentials in Steemit. No need to worry again what we are doing here is just proving that you are indeed the owner of the account you are linking in the Byteball address. When done you will be asked to chose if you want to store you Steem username privately or publicly. Choose Publicly so that you can receive the rewards as well as people can send you Byteball with the use of your Steem username.
When you are done choosing public the chat bot will tell you to pay the attestation fee of 49,000 Byte. Or if you don't have any you may just use the other option of signing the message shown above. I will not discuss the other option as it will only pay you 80% of he reward it is better to pay the 49,000 Byte. If you don't have one please comment your Byteball address below and I will be glad to Sponsor your attestation fee. If you can please send me a screenshot of your chat bot to verify that you are indeed using it for the attestation fee. Please note that Byteball is recorded on a public ledger meaning anyone can inspect the address so please be honest.
Once you you have received the bytes to pay for the attestation fee just click on the the link on the chat bot that says "Payment request: 49000 bytes". It will fill-out the fields required and you just have to press send to transmit the payment. Done! Check your balance in Byteball you will see that you have the corresponding byteball reward depending on your reputation score. It may take a couple of seconds please be patient.
