Anyone knows what it is?
Now that the World Cup fever is over, what do we know about this CUP? When the world's sexiest and some gorgeous men are so after it, running and kicking after a ball, where men sometimes dive and cry foul like ninnies? Include those famous ones, Gerrard I have not seen diving. Did he ever? Am sure there are other tricks known only to them players where the need for a VAR is necessary? If I remember correctly a few years back, the need for a technology was also needed to measure how deep can a ball gets in the net to be called a GOAL.
In all seriousness. Like a life depends on it.
Now the trophy that we all went gaga for recently.
The World Cup trophy was named after JULES RIMET, the 3rd President of FIFA, after initiating the 1st World Cup in 1930. A french football administrator, he served as the longest president of FIFA for 33 years, hence the trophy was named in his honor.
In all honesty, i've only learnt of this after the finals. I got curious though when a friend in London said this before the England vs Croatia game:
It's coming home!
Here I thought the trophy was originally England's but a friend in Cassagne was also saying the same thing. I got curious at some point although I wouldn't have minded if England won the CUP. But against Croatia?
I slept after the 1st half and the score was 1 : 0. Sometimes England can be so complacent where there's no hunger and passion in their games. Why can't the players be like Gerrard when playing for its' country? Don't mind me am a solid fan.
VAR (Video-assisted Referee)
Living in London, it took me a long time to appreciate Football, at 1st it was BORING. More so when there's not a single goal. Living with a spaniard sort of changed it plus those free champagnes and lunches that my cousin and I go to once in a while with QPR's.
Anyway, I had an invite to watch the France vs Croatia game last sunday and as the kick-off was at 11 pm, I only had to give my mom's feed earlier and the kids and I were off.
So the penalty kick post VAR. I seriously didn't have a clue about that stuff. But was it necessary? Did the tempo of the game changed after that? If there was no VAR, would a penalty kick be given to France? It gave France a boost surely.
I love the way France played against Belgium. As for Croatia, they have done well and should be proud of themselves. Although their game against England was brilliant, France was at the top of their game.
Vive les Bleus!!!
