House Speaker Bambang Soesatyo again voiced his concerns about vulnerable areas that are often used by international drug syndicates to enter illicit goods into Indonesia. Referring to the findings of the Directorate of Criminal Criminal Investigation of the Indonesian National Police, waters from Aceh, Medan, Riau, Riau Islands to Lampung are often drug entrances.
Bambang said that efforts to combat drug smuggling cannot only be done by the National Police or the National Narcotics Agency (BNN). According to him, the involvement of other agencies is needed to close the drug trafficking-prone route.
"Encouraging the Indonesian Navy, Polairud, BNN and Customs to improve supervision on routes that are often used by smugglers, especially to supervise and crack down on ships that conduct transactions in the middle of the sea," Bamsoet said in Jakarta on Wednesday
The former chairman of the House of Representatives Commission III added, there must be special supervision of areas that often become mice ports. Because, international crime syndicates use ships to enter drugs through rodent ports in many regions.
In addition, Bamsoet also encouraged the National Police and National Narcotics Agency to continue to raise awareness. "Especially in monitoring narcotics circulation and anticipating the possibility of new types of drugs," he said.
Bamsoet added, so far the government's performance in combating drugs should be appreciated. The Golkar legislator also supports government programs in combating narcotics crime.
"The government has set Indonesia as a narcotics emergency. And the House of Representatives affirms its commitment to play an active role in combating drug abuse and circulation," he said.
