I went to the market this morning to buy something for lunch. We are only a few steps away from the market so it has been our habit to buy only what's needed.
Cloudy white skies, the sun peeping.
But I was a little gobsmacked to see lots of people, buying and carrying lots of things. There was a human traffic building up and people around seem to be a bit more energetic. They talk louder. Their strides were faster. Impatient. Anxious. What is going on? Should I panic, too?
I only got ₱150 on my hand to buy something for pinakbet. Hahaha!
At the rice section of the market, there was a long line of people waiting. Etched on their faces was that of apprehension. I overheard one nanay who says she needed to go home ASAP because she needed to pack things. She said they would evacuate and she left her 5 kids to their neighbor.
A loud radio was playing on the background too. It talked about the updates of the coming typhoon. Our province is already under signal number 2. But the storm haven't landed yet! It is expected to make a landfall tomorrow morning.
There was a loud hush amongst those in line. They were only allowed to buy 5kilos of rice which some of them concludes that it won't last them until the storm passes.
I bought my ingredients for the pinakbet and manang tindera asked me to pray to my God that this typhoon won't be as strong as it is expected.
It made me realize that during these difficult times, after all the necessary preparations we have done, we are left with nothing else but to close our eyes and PRAY.
