This morning I had a wonderful chit-chat with a dear friend of mine. It was beautiful to spend some time catching up on all things. As we were talking, a question was asked of me. My answer to the question was, "Because I am Lazy."

Now my friend is on a mission to spread laughter and joy worldwide. She got upset. I used the word lazy to describe myself. The more upset she got, the bigger the smile on my face was. I, too, get upset when others cut themselves down with words. It upsets me that people find it okay to see themselves in a negative light when I know them to be filled with love.

My use of the word lazy is an easy way out for me. Some could say a lazy way. I can spell the word easily when typing. I do not negatively use the term when talking about myself. My lazy ways have served me well throughout my life.

Yet, my beautiful friend made brilliant points in their argument about negative words. She was on a mission to change me. To make me talk about myself in a more positive light. We left the conversation with her searching for another word I could spell and use in place of lazy when I am typing. Yes, I do have the best friends ever!

I went off to do things, but our conversation kept playing in my head in the back of my mind. A few Google searches later, I could see where I had made a mistake. The word lazy to the rest of the world does not ever have a positive connotation. Huh. Well. Now. What to do?
