The first Raid day, as many are calling it, was quite interesting. I met up with the local raid group an hour before the start to organize groups. The sight on the map was quite interesting when the event started as every gym was a Articuno raid for 3 hours:

As we started at a local mall, the first 5 raids were not and issue as there were well over 60 people joining raids there. However, after the 5th raid group started to scatter as driving was needed to get to other gyms. The local raid group established a route that was most efficient but as the day went on, groups got thinner.
Here is my Articuno Pokedex before starting:

Here is my Articuno Pokedex after ending:

So, I did a total of 12 raids. The groups I was in were able to defeat him 11 times but the very last raid was only tried by 3 of us so we could not complete it. Of these 11 completed, I was able to catch 9 which I was amazed at given my previous results with Articuno last year. Unfortunately, I was not able to get a shiny version but my recent catches look interesting:

I also caught a couple of the new Pikachu anniversary version along the way. All in all, it was fun day! I am looking forward to what Niantic has in store for future events like these. It’s not over yet…. I am about to head out for Community Day later today!
Enjoy!
