I've been busy here adding new features and fixing issues at Ureka.Social. Thanks to everyone who provided feedback and reported bugs - I've fixed the majority of the ones I know about now. Please don't hesitate to report any others that you find - either under this post as comments or via the new UREKA CHAT!
Yes, I have integrated the open source live chat solution provided by PeakD's open source project (see their DHF funding proposal here). This allows everyone who uses Ureka to:
- Meet and chat with each other in real time - authenticated and secured via Hive Keychain.
- Upvote each other's comments inside the chat.
- Essentially have a Discord like experience inside Ureka and continue the mutual support via upvotes even while chatting. Now there's little reason to use Discord for Hive community experiences.
You will notice a chat icon to the bottom-right of the Ureka website layout. Just click that and you will be auto authenticated into the Ureka community chat space. You can also then navigate to have private conversations with other people or join chats in other Hive communities too.
I have customised the theme of the chat system to some extent and improved some of the images used in the default theme. Please note that Ureka's policy of minimal server hosting means that the Ureka chat system is not currently served by a computer controlled by Ureka - we are making use of PeakD's own chat server.
I've also made significant improvements to commenting on Ureka, notifications and some other areas:
Added: Hive Chat via PeakD with custom theme and minor UI improvements.

Improved: HBD claimable interest now more readable
Improved: Character countdown added for threads post input boxes.
Improved: Format of post previews.
Improved: Comments now load dynamically.
Improved: Navigation of thread posts via parent/original links
Fixed: Notification settings reflect supported notification types
Fixed: Power Up/Down and HBD Savings operations now work again for desktop
Fixed: Community subscription process was broken
Fixed: Posts from Favourite users were not paginating.
Fixed: Correct post buttons now rendered for logged out users.
Fixed: Thread post boxes did not properly support images.
Fixed: Layout of post box for threads on mobile was not optimal
Fixed: Posts from 3Speak were not rendered correctly.
Fixed: Claim rewards button was not functional on mobile devices.
Fixed: Posts can now be edited after 7 days.
Fixed: Edited posts now correctly refresh in the UI.
Fixed: Parent thread posts can now be edited.
Fixed: New comments showed incorrect reputation in the UI
Fixed: Usernames were not always correctly detected in post content.
Fixed: Comments from muted accounts are not correctly hidden.
