We had an incredible start to the 1UP #esoteric community launch with loads of entries to our contests already. Just before the HF20 “break”, the tag was buzzing!
Our intention is to build and support a thriving community of esoteric content creators on the STEEM blockchain. Through using the #esoteric tag, their content will be easy to find by anyone with an interest in the many subjects that can fit under that umbrella. They will also benefit from being part of a 1UP starting community.

Announcing The Contest Winners For Week One
We are airdropping ONE MILLION UP Tokens to esoteric creators over ten weeks. The first week began on Thursday 20th September. Due to the HF20 shenanigans, the winners announcement has been delayed until today and week two will begin from today, 1st October 2018.
There are three specific contests:
1. Weekly Esoteric Content Contest – 50,000 UP tokens per week
Your written, video and audio content, tagged #esoteric will be eligible to win the following weekly prizes, for 10 weeks:
1st Prize – 25,000 UP tokens, 2nd Prize – 15,000 UP tokens, 3rd Prize – 10,000 UP tokens

2. Weekly Esoteric Graphics and Memes Contest – 30,000 UP tokens per week
Get your creative hat on and let’s see your #esoteric memes, infographics etc. The following weekly prizes will be available for 10 weeks:
1st Prize – 15,000 UP tokens, 2nd Prize – 10,000 UP tokens, 3rd Prize – 5,000 UP tokens
This week, there were just two entries in this contest, which means that 3rd prize is being split equally between them both. The memes were both original and good quality and it would be great to see more entries in this contest, where there is a relatively high chance of winning a prize! Here are the entrants, along with their graphics:

3. Esoteric and Visionary Art Contest – 10 Week Contest
This is an opportunity for you to showcase your artistic talent and either share existing work or create a beautiful piece specifically for the contest. This contest is running for the entire 10 week period and the winners will be announced on, or shortly after 3rd December 2018.
The following prizes are available:
1st Prize – 100,000 UP Tokens, 2nd Prize – 60,000 UP Tokens, 3rd Prize – 40,000 UP Tokens
All artistic forms are acceptable, for example photograph, sculpture etc can be entered, so long as it fits in with the esoteric/visionary theme.
We have already had some beautiful entries in this contest and would love to see many more.
WEEK 2 CONTESTS (From 1st October To 7th October Inclusive)
We have changed the required tags slightly for each contest, as Steemit.com did not recognise the 1UP tag. Therefore, I will cover the rules again:
1. Weekly Esoteric Content Contest – 50,000 UP tokens per week

"Hang on, what's this 1UP all about?"... We're glad you asked!
1UP is a new community upvoting system being built on the STEEM blockchain. Unlike the current STEEM voting model, which is based on vote weight, on the 1UP platform all user votes are equal. Users can upvote within any of the Steem communities that have been added to the 1UP platform. The 1UP application is due to launch in October.
Each day, the official @steem-1up account will upvote the ten highest ranked posts (got the most 1UPs) in each community, this means that:
(1) There are multiple chances daily to win a substantial upvote from the @steem-1up account
(2) High curation rewards are available for all upvoters on winning posts.
To facilitate this initiative, the UP token is based on the upcoming Smart Media Token protocol (SMT) and will be distributed to both Steemians and communities via airdrops.
