Currently there are some task requests in utopian.io as you can see here:
When you open the task, they appear as a normal contribution. My suggestion is to make a button like this:
This would work a bit similar to the + Contribution button with a few differences, all the functionality would be:
- By clicking the button the new contribution page would appear.
- The new contribution page would have already filled the repository field.
- After clicking POST button, the project owner would be notified that someone has taken the task. This could be by sending a message via utopian chat or discord using a bot or creating a comment in the task page itself.
- Also, the contribution would have a link to the task request, so when a moderator comes across with the contribution has a quick way to check with the task if the contribution actually works for what is being asked.
- Finally, all the accepted contributions would appear at the bottom of the task so the project owner has quick acces to them too.
There would be need of a popup in the + Contribution button, to make sure the author is not meant to use the Take task one.
With this, we would be sure the author gets to know the proper way to fullfill a task in case that is what they want to do. And of course, we don't want to bother the user everytime they hit the + Contribution button, so there is need of a Don't ask me again checkbox. So it is under they responsability if the project owner never knows about their contribution.
Conclusion
Having this button with such functionality would perfectly link the TASKS REQUEST with the CONTRIBUTIONS, making the work for project owners and more easier and more effective.
