Expected behavior
Deleting a picture should wipe it off the phone and renaming an image with a similar name should not bring back a previously deleted picture or the thumbnail.
Actual behavior
The thumbnail of a recently deleted picture is restored when another picture in the folder is named after the deleted picture. The restored thumbnail replaces that of the renamed picture.
And on opening the picture there is a notable glitch, the earlier deleted picture is visible for a slight second before the original picture shows. It is as though the two pictures are on a slide.
How to reproduce
- download the app from fdroid store
- launch app and allow permissions if prompted
- Select a picture folder
- Hold and select a picture file
- Click on the three dots on the top tool bar,
- Then click delete
- Now hold and select another picture
- Click on the pencil icon to edit and rename
- Rename the selected picture with the name of the recently deleted picture.
- Save and you will notice immediately, that the thumbnail of the newly renamed picture is exactly the same with the picture you previously deleted.
- Try and open the picture. You'll notice that the old deleted picture blinks for half a second before changing to the original image.
