The Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to CS, designed to demystify "code", to show that everyone can learn the basics.And broaden the participation to all races, gender and ages. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science. The Hour of Code is a global movement reaching millions of students in 180+ countries. Anyone, anywhere can organize an Hour of Code event. It is now are available in over 45 languages. No experience needed. It is also for all ages.

Data on computers is stored as long sequences of characters – ultimately as binary 1s and 0s. The idea with compression is that we use an algorithm to change the way the information is represented so that fewer characters are needed to store exactly the same information.
