I started contributing some translations for Mozilla projects. As an overview there are a few projects under Mozilla for localization.
For my first set, I worked with the SUMO project. SUMO is a shorthand for support.mozilla.org. This website is a portal for all volunteer works at Mozilla. Because of this, there is really a great need to localize the site.
To localize SUMO Interface. I aimed to provided Filipino/Tagalog translations. I have started working on SUMO last December 18-19, and have added translation suggestions. Overall, I have contributed 50% for SUMO Tagalog, around 146 lines of texts to complete the documents: buddyup and yaocho. The number of words may vary, sometimes we have words, phrases and even paragraphs. For buddyup.po, translated around 510 words, more or less. Yaocho.po has around 23 words only. For this project I have provided translations, 2 out of 4 documents available.
If you check the items under SUMO Tagalog. There are 4 files for localization. You can also check the progress of each file. The green bar is the translated percentage. The blue bar is the suggested percentage. To maintain good quality of translations at Mozilla, every translation should start with a Suggestion.
Specifically, I have worked with the following files:
- LC_MESSAGES/buddyup.po
- LC_MESSAGES/yaocho.po
These two are legacy components of the SUMO Interface. A quick overview
LC_MESSAGES/buddyup.po
- contains strings for mobile-centric 1-to-1 support project.
LC_MESSAGES/yaocho.po
- contains strings for the mobile version of the support knowledge base.
Proof of Work
To view my progress, you can check this URL. This is a general overview of the progress of translation SUMO to Tagalog. Image below is a screenshot of my Pontoon profile as well. This shows the timeline and the things I have worked on this project.
And this is a screen of my contributions for SUMO Interface. You can also view it here. As you can see, there are only 2 contributors for this project. So far, I have added most of the suggestions under this project.
Screenshots below are the items that I have translated. Also viewable on this links.
