Hey everyone, so the day has finally come- it's the last day of the #veganuarycontest!
I will really miss reading your posts and seeing what genius creative yumminess you all come up with for the contest!
But the good news is that we have had a whole month of great inspiration and positivity to show anyone curious about veganism not only what vegans eat but how amazing and delicious a plant based life can be!
Even if you haven't participated or aren't quite ready to try it out for yourself, I hope that the awesome community here has showed you a little of what veganism is about and I hope you will try it out yourselves, in your own time π
Remember, you can take on this challenge any time you want! Even if you start just by going vegan for a week, or for just one day a week, little steps go a long way to changing your preconceptions and breaking lifelong habits.
I was once a self confessed 'cheese addict'. For the longest time I was one of those classic 'I could never go vegan, I love cheese too much' people. Even once I went vegetarian I found the notion of giving up cheese to be impossible to imagine! I stopped buying milk and yoghurt and pretty much everything else, but cheese, no no I could never give that up!
It's so interesting how you can change in ways you never dreamed imaginable. I have been decreasing the amount of dairy I have been consuming gradually over the last year or so, so I guess I was well equipped to take on veganuary. I was expecting to crave cheese and for it to be hard to watch others around me consume it during January but I can honestly say that I didn't miss cheese at all. It's incredible!
I think the more I've engaged with veganism, in particular the amazing people on Steemit and their positive reinforcement of the ethos of veganism, the more focused I have been on living with that in mind.
January has been an amazing and inspiring time for me and I feel confident I can make the change to veganism full time. I have no desire to consume dairy, however I am aware that I am not perfect, and if I slip up I will simply dust myself off and get back up again!
THANK YOU!
Thank you so so so very much to everyone who has submitted an entry for the contest, it has been really hard to choose every week, there have been so many delicious recipes and aspirational vegan articles.
I'm also really grateful for how many of you have engaged with the contest and showed your support by commenting and sharing it, and I've found so many other great Steemians through this process. It's enabled me to engage with so many like minded and talented people! It's been so amazing to meet you all!
