How do we restore our humanity?

Just who the hell are we as humans? What does that question mean?

         We as humans have been told, and many things have been dictated to all of us throughout of lives as to who we are, and who we are supposed to be...

But why?

          Every couple of years the recommendation for our diets change.  Every four to eight years (atleast in America) the entire political regime changes..  But nothing changes, save for a few policies.  Every 4 years the education systems change, and not for the better.  Students used to be taught Greek and Latin...  
        
          Now we are barely teaching the English language.  Hell, even that has changed dramatically in the past decade.  Even the governments of the world have lied to get populations into wars.  Poverty have never been higher and lower.  Standard of living has never been higher or lower.  
         
          Let me explain, we have some of the highest suicide rates ever recorded, drug use and alcoholism is at it's peak.  But at the same time, groceries are being delivered faster and cheaper than ever before relative to cost..  But is it really nutrition?  It is easier to live a middle class lifestyle, just in a middle class suburb. 
        
          But yet, homeless rates have never been higher.  The number of those living on government housing have never been higher...  Most people have a car, a place to live, and a relatively good paying job compared to twenty years ago... But why does over 50 % of our population have less than $1000 in savings.  Not having kids is easier than ever before, yet in the poorest of areas, single mothers are the rule..  Not the exception. 

What gives? Have we lost our humanity?
Yes, I believe so.

So... I ask again... who are we?
What if we have lied to by every establishment, about almost everything because of political or monetary gain?
How are we supposed to live.... And how can we get there.
