Just ARK'ing around tonight!

After doing paperwork and crunching numbers all day, I'm just looking to play. So I'm going with ARK tonight. Normally, I'd be watching Netflix which is what I've been doing but after a year that got really boring, so I'm certainly enjoying my games again! Battlefield V last night was fun but a complete disaster. In other words, I was terrible. Wonder if I even have it in me to be good at FPS these days.

Been a few days since ARK

It's been a few days and I've just been too tired after work. The problem is I couldn't sleep much either so tonight is no different, but if I'm already up, I might as well blog or stream and play some ARK. I've fallen behind my friends Gunny & Webby (the guys I'm playing with) since they've had a lot more time than me but I'm just casually going along.

Surviving the ARK

This is a game that in my opinion has more content than any other game. The multiple maps are all a part of a greater progression and unless you have god-like rates set up, it's going to be a grind. Just missing these last three days compared to the progression they've gotten is pretty insane, so I guess when it comes to using the "tribe" base, I've been able to cut a few corners. Since I don't have the time anyways, it's probably a good thing. Having 1100 hours in the game and not seeing much end-game just means I've had to restart a few times but there's well over 1100 hours of content to work towards so it's one of few games that I can say was worth the money I spent on it. I could easily say that ARK is my favourite game right now.

I like to consider 10 cents or less per hour played when I think of the price of the game. So a $100 game should get me at least 1,000 hours of game time. This game certainly exceeds that quota for me.

Having said that, they've gone and progressed quite a bit ahead of me and are already prepping for boss fights. Time is the biggest factor. Of course, so is staying on one server. As for me, this will be my permanent ARK server cluster so that I can actually see the end-game eventually, maybe. Who knows if I ever get there...because Atlas is happening.

Coming from the same creators of ARK, I am still looking forward to Atlas. It's been delayed til December 19th (it was supposed to release today, December 13th), but I'm definitely getting on that bright and early! Being an early access game, it is only available through Steam's Early Access program and Xbox's early access program. I don't know the actual name, since I don't own an Xbox, but until Atlas is actually released it won't be available for playstation.

Just as the game says, it is considered unfinished and steam/early access can't gaurentee further development. However; coming from the creators of ARK, I trust that they will deliver simply because I've had ARK since it was in the Early Access program and they certainly delivered.

A few years ago I remember stating my ideal game on a popular ARK streamer's livestream. If I could build a space ship to hop from one ARK to another (they are basically biomes orbiting earth) that would be great. After all, the TEK gear already in-game would pretty much allow it. Most importantly, one server for all the players. One world, build your own civilization or conquer someone elses. Not sure how I feel about the whole pirate theme yet, but I am certainly sold on everything else. It's like I spoke it into existence, or maybe someone was listening!
