Today we expect visitors from California for a few days, they are our dear friends. They will only stay four nights and they will stay in a nearby hotel.
We’ve had visitors stay with us before, but circumstances change and it would maybe too much for us in the circumstances. Nonetheless, we will have a great time as we love them, (our best man and his wife) and they are among our greatest friends despite the difference in location.
We will have fun showing them around the parts of London they didn’t get to see when they were here last, and where they got engaged. We will show them the markets, find good restaurants (not necessarily expensive ones) as both men are chefs, and our visitor works for a charity in Santa Rosa, the Ceres Project that does good things with food.
In the evenings we’ll either go out to dine, or eat in and talk until the wee hours after which they will walk back to their hotel. They go to Brussels and then on to Paris after leaving us, and we will all have had a good time. We will hear of news from the US and how they deal with their current situation.
The weather today will be dry and sunny and that’s a good start, but as in all things, weather in England can be so erratic. They have good weather reports and are fairly accurate so we have a good week ahead, although chilly, not too many showers.
My parents were both good hosts and put great store in making people welcome, so I already had that in my background before I lived in Greece, where hospitality is threaded through their veins.
When did you have your last visitor?
