Two brothers face each other on the battlefield across the divide of the American Civil War. Closeups, fades, flashbacks, recognizable characters, realistic period detail and creative camera movement bring home a simple human truth: war is death.
Not technically perfect. Image stitching and low resolution sometimes get in the way. But production values are high and the emotive force is strong. All is enhanced by the immediacy of the 3D image and the field of view. Despite it’s faults you are there. You can’t help but be engaged.
Unabashedly romantic as period pieces tend to be, My Brother’s Keeper rises above sentimentality and strikes the heart.
