Before digging into Web3 , Let’s have a look at Web1 and Web2.
Well, Web1 is said to be like a read only file. This is when the internet launched in 1980’s where content is being created by limited number of individuals or groups and shared in the form of news media outlets, search engines, directories etc. Majority of the users on internet search the content and read it.
On the other hand, Web2 is another transformed version of Web1 with read and write rights enabled. You can read and write articles, update them as well as share them on social media platforms. All types of content from text to video is supported on all major social media platforms. You cannot only write content but also sell your content by way of advertising it on these platforms. In another way, these platforms takes advantage of your personnel data and sell them in order to generate massive amount of revenue. Privacy and Security has become a major concern these days.
Last but not least, Web 3 is the future of Internet. It is said to be read, write and own. Here participants or users have right to own their content (may be media or text) as they have ownership rights. Right now everything is controlled by a group of people running social media companies at an extreme higher level like Google,Facebook,Twitter etc. In Web3, they may not exist at all. Internet is decentralised. It is purely a democratize or you can say democractic form of internet (own and use by user only for their benefit).
Let’s summarize, Web3 provide users with full ownership control over their data without any intervention with the help of a blockchain.
Here comes another aspect of storing data that is block chain.
Blockchain is a public database which consists of information stored by users on the internet. This information is stored in the form of blocks just like pages in a book.
These blocks are interconnected to each other.
It is said to be unchangeable and unshakable record of transactions committed over a period of tim which is not altered by any third party or an external authority like banks, private institutions and government as well.
The integrity and authority of data is the hands of users rather than it won’t be in the hands of big whales.
It is an open source platform which is managed and accessed by the users itself according to their needs and requirements.
It is said to be permission less platform where authorization doesn’t undergo in the hands of government or any other organization.
You can interact publicly or privately with your consent.
