I Have a Job for You
Recently, I had a friend ask me to help them with one of their website properties they own. I immediately back pedaled and explained that I was in no way a website master, coder or anything like that. I tried several different excuses as to why I would not be able to help but my friend insisted. He offered to pay me for my time and services, but again I declined.

Seeing my friends look of dejection gave me a change of heart and so then I said I would help..... point him in the right direction. So for a moment he brightened up but then the gloomy face set in again. I realized that I was not going to get out of this one so easily. I asked what happened to his regular Web Developer to which he replied that business was not so good and that it he could not afford what the web developing company was charging him for a small change needed on one of his websites.
Again I explained to my pal that even if I wanted to help him, that I was not a "coder" but that I knew of a service that could possibly help. He was not having it. He insisted that whatever was going to be done to fix his web problem, that I would be in charge of it, no matter who ultimately did the work. So in this case I became a part-time web contractor.

The task was pretty simple. On this new website, he wanted a "Coming Soon" page with some nice graphics and a Count Down Clock. So after getting a feel of what the website will be about, and how he plans to monetize it as well as the image he wants to portray, I explained to my friend the visual ideas I had for his website. He liked what I had in mind as far as the layout and design.
Now for the big question. How much was this simple landing page with some graphics, text and a count down clock going to cost? My friend told me that he was quoted $400 - $500, to which I replied that it was an outrageous amount for a simple landing page. I realized that the graphics and word content were going to have to be created but that estimate still seemed very pricey.
Fiverr.com To the Rescue

I looked around on the internet on websites like careerbuilder.com and monster.com finally landing on craigslist.com. Here people do put up a resume but you can also put up a specific job listing as well as find people offering there Website services and skills per job or contract. I looked around some more on the internet until I ran across the Uber and Airbnb of small job online freelancing called Fiverr.com

Fiverr.com is a world wide online market place where freelance contract jobs start at $5 but can go into the thousands. I looked at the reviews and read some news articles, quickly realizing that I was in the right place to help with this task of creating a landing page with a count down timer on it. I created an account and verified my information. I then looked around to see what others were doing on the Fiverr.com website. I saw some offering their services, while others were creating what are called "Gigs" on Fiverr. These "Gigs" can be anything from logo creation to the creation and customization of a full e-commerce website with shopping cart. People will do small videos/commercials for you or professionally edit a video you recorded.
I ultimately listed two gigs on Fiverr. The first "Gig" was for the necessary graphics needed for the website. Then once that was done, I proceeded to list the second "Gig" which now entailed making a simple plain home page or landing page. This page, that I called the "Coming Soon" page because of the count down timer would also include the recently created graphics and content. Both these two newly listed "Gigs" on Fiverr were completed in less than 24 hours for about half what was originally quoted, and that is with me receiving a small reward for helping out.

There were other sites like Fiverr that offered freelance services to get small jobs like these completed at lower costs. Sites like Sellfy and iWriter are similar, but Fiverr.com is by far the leader when it comes to finding good freelance work at very reasonable prices for an amazingly fast turn around time. So if you are looking to get something done on a website, or you yourself want to earn to extra online money, then places like Sellfy.com, iWriter.com and Fiverr.com are there for you.
