Hello there #wednesdaywalk'rs. I was out and about today on my day off and I had to run an errand to a town across the river in Washington. On my way home I had to make a stop at a rest stop due to all the damn water I've been drinking because it's been three days of over 100 degree weather here 😃
Anyhow, the Chamberlain Lake Safety Rest Area is on a bluff about 100 feet up from the Columbia River with an awesome view, here is a panoramic shot of the river.
Those panorama shots are a bit misleading so here is a map of the area with an inset of the rest stop with a X on the spot I took the picture from 🤓
The Columbia River Gorge is also famous for the summer winds, which always blow east, can gust to 40mph and sustain in the high teens on any given sunny summer day.
Today the wind on this bluff was easily blowing at 30mph (48kmh). When I turned my head to take the picture a gust got behind my sunglasses and blew them off my head!
:D
The gif above is looking east and the one below is looking west, just to try to give you an idea of the force of the wind.
I actually got a phone call while I was trying to take these picture and when I answered the person on the other end could not hear a word I said due to the wind, haaaahahahaha!
Anyhow, this #wednesdaywalk was about 25 steps from my car to the fence and the same amount back so, as you might have guessed, I'm ready to chill.
