4/20 is tomorrow and there will be many around the world who are celebrating this occasion. There will be cannabis specials and different events to find and unfortunately not enough attention around this time to the many thousands of Americans who are still behind bar for marijuana related offenses.
It's estimated that some 40k Americans might still be behind bars for cannabis related offenses and for non-violent individuals it seems like an injustice against their human rights to sentence them for such a consequence for what now is broadly legal around the United States.
There are some individuals who have been waiting to die in prison because of their non-violent cannabis related activities.
Those who are thankful for the access now and the market that has been established should recognize the price that was paid by so many before the market was ready to recognize that people should have access to this product. They paid that price with their lives to get customers their medicine in many cases.
It is highly hypocritical of the state to reverse its stance now if they aren't going to also reverse their wrongdoing that they engaged in by inflicting these harsh sentences on cannabis "criminals" too in the past during the war on drugs. It's never too late to reverse those injustices that took place. Those non-violent individuals aren't a threat to their community and in many ways can bring value to those around them if given that opportunity.
