The United States has built-in "safeguards" used to protect the country against mobocracy, which Bastiat points out as a reason for the restriction of voting. Within the history of the United States have the safeguards put in place truly done their job of safeguarding from the incapable voters or has it had adverse effects on the voters of the United States.
Bastiat states that "if you wish to be strong, begin by rooting out every particle of socialism that may have crept into your legislation." Do you agree with this statement, and based on your opinion would you consider roads, schools, law enforcement, etc to be considered a socialist practice?
Bastiat believes that the government collecting money and distributing it to those without is "an instrument of plunder." Do you agree with his statement and do you believe that the goal of taxation for distribution is for income equality.
