1. Big News
1.1. QuarkChain Open Sourced the Client Library
QuarkChain engineering team has opened the source codes of the first version of the client library, which facilitates DApp developers to shift from Ethereum to QuarkChain. This library has been successfully adopted by several teams in the Blockchain Awakens Hackathon last week. Check more details in the third section of this bi-weekly report.
1.2. Offline Activities
1.2.1. Thailand Summit
QuarkChain attended the two-day Hybrid Summit in Thailand on Aug 2. In this summit, QuarkChain had its own booth, which was one of the most popular booths in this event and attracted a lot of attention from media.
In this summit, QuarkChain CBO, Ting Du, delivered a successful speech and received a thunderous round of applause from audiences - QuarkChain has become a rising star among many participating projects.
Except for the Hybrid Summit, we were invited to participate in the Silicon Valley Blockchain Awakens Hackathon as well.
1.2.2. Blockchain Awakens Hackathon (http://www.blockchainawakens.com/)
The Blockchain Awakens Hackathon was successfully held by Google ABC last week in Silicon Valley.
QuarkChain is very honored to be one of the three blockchain platforms (together with NKN and Hyperledger) to make contributions to this hackathon. This event has attracted more than 20 blockchain celebrities’ attendee, including Whitfield Diffie, the Turing-Award winner and Father of Encryption, Professor Shoucheng Zhang, the discoverer of Majorana fermion, and Yi He, the co-founder of Binance. 23 teams and more than 120 engineers from top companies such as Google, Facebook, Uber, Linkedin and Amazon also joined the competition for the final laurel. 8 teams chose QuarkChain as their development platform.
2. New Face
Sophie Wang joined the marketing team at QuarkChain. Prior QuarkChain, she was a senior data analyst at Infusionsoft and Lending Club, where she developed a deep understanding about how to use data and modeling to reach targeted users. She is also a growth hacker with years of experiences in product operation and marketing. The AARRR (Acquisition, Activation, Retention, Revenue, Referral) funnel she built in product improved the user growth and conversion. She holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Management from Duke University and graduated from Tongji University. Sophie thinks that the product marketing and operation in blockchain industry become more diversified due to the token economy, which is one of the main reasons attracting her to this industry.
3. Development Progress
QuarkChain engineering team has completed and opened the source codes of the first version of client library to public. The library provides similar interfaces as web3.js (the Ethereum client library) so that the existing Ethereum DApp developers can easily start building Apps on QuarkChain. The engineering team also integrated the client library and our testnet with MetaMask (the most popular hot wallet as a browser extension) which can be used to manage QuarkChain accounts and signing transactions. This library has been used by several teams in the Blockchain Awakens Hackathon last week. We received many positive and constructive feedbacks.
