For millenia, we humans have been asking one of the biggest and puzzling questions that we have yet to find an answer to. 'Are we alone in the universe?' If you think about it for a moment, without letting any prior information cloud your judgement, the logical answer seems to be, 'No'.
The universe as we know is so huge that our simple brain can't even comprehend it, and to make it even worse, it is ever expanding and that too, at an accelerated rate.
To think that we are the only living creatures in the entire universe would be, in my opinion, highly arrogant. There are trillions of planets out there and so many variations in which life can sprout, that it seems impossible that we are all alone.
So, where are all the alien beings? Why have they not shown up? Maybe one day we will find the answer. Till then, let me ask you another interesting question. What if we were the alien beings all along?
Are We Aliens?
Let me elaborate. Yes, we all know that we have evolved like every other species on Earth, for millions of years, but we do not yet know the origin of life on Earth. We have gone as far as 4 billion years but we cannot say for certain how exactly it happened.
What if life originated on other planets or asteroids and was brought to Earth, either by chance or intentionally? Mars, the planet that gets more and more interesting from a 'search for extraterrestrial life' perspective, was once thought to have huge oceans, billions of years ago, remnants of which we are still discovering underground.
What if Mars was home to a teeming biosphere with diverse species and that there was an extention level event that wiped off everything. Say, huge asteroids collided with the planet's surface, of which a portion came to Earth, carrying with it hitchhikers that started off life on Earth.
What if there were intelligent beings that intentionally sent seeds of life on Earth, knowing that it was all over for them, but life could find a new home in this new planet.
Or what if life was brought from a far off place by highly advanced beings, as an experiment to see how it evolved on an entirely different planet with a different setting. I mean, this doesn't take much technological prowess anyways as we could do the same in the future ourselves.
Questions like these surely make you think and provide you with a larger perspective of life on the scale of the cosmos. Will we ever find out for sure? I hope so. It will be one of the biggest mysteries solved, if we do.
