Computer is the latest wonder of modern science. computer is an instrument that computes or does various calculations. It was not invited overnight. It took a long time and hard labour to invent and improve it. The first electro–mechanical computer was made jointly by the Harvard University and the IBM company in 1944. At last the electronic computer came into existence in 1946. A modern computer has two aspects : hardware and software. It can perform three function. It receives data, it processes data by various computation and it emits data. These function are done by giving the computer a programme . 
A computer consists of five main components — the input unit the output unit, memory unit the control unit and the arithmetic unit. Every computer has it own machine language that it can understand. The services of computer are innumerable and beyond description. It has become. It is perhaps the strongest gift of science. It has saved our time lessened our work loads and made our life easy and comfortable.
