Easy to watch media files on WhatsApp, a new feature for Fake News
Whatsapp has released a new feature for iPhone users. Now it will be easier for iPhone users to view media files in any message. Now it will be easy to know whether the URL sent in the message is 'suspicious' or not. After updating the Whatsapp iOS app, this new feature can be used. Some changes have also been noticed in the WhatsApp user interface. The WABeta website first made this information public.
After the app updates, users will now be able to view the media files on the Whatsapp app from the Notification panel. So far such notifications could be seen as a camera icon in the Notification panel. To see the media file, tap the notification. Now after the arrival of new features, the preview of GIFs will also be seen in the notification. To verify that you've got 'Notification Extension', ask a friend to send a photo. After this, try opening it only in the notification itself. The website says that this feature is rolling slowly, so it may take a few days for all users to reach.
The website also said that this feature is limited to the iOS 10 and above versions only. Whatsapp will also help your users know that the URL of a message is 'suspicious' or not. It is mentioned on the website that whenever a user receives a message with the URL, the messaging platform will check it at the local level. If the link is not valid, then Whatsapp will show the link above the URL text of that message in 'red' color. This feature will also reinforce the Fake News, which is spread through Whatsapp, to some extent.
This feature is working in devices running on iOS 7 or above. This means it will also work in the iPhone 4 and subsequently launched smartphones. It is not certain how long this feature will come for Android users. Facebook's proprietary rights group, this messaging platform, is making a lot of efforts to stop spreading Fake News in India. Recently, Whatsapp has introduced radio cameras in many states. The purpose of this campaign is to make the users aware that once you receive any message on Whatsapp, you must make a good check once before sharing it.
