Wow guys, I'm overwhelmed by the interest that was taken in this contest. So many awesome entries which has made my task a difficult one! Supremely f&%king difficult! Who thought it was a good idea for me to host this contest? I'm blaming my husband! Who thought they wanted it to do well?
Can I blame my husband for that too?
Haaa, okay, let's do this.

I said I would choose a favorite based on something specific I was looking for, and that something was captured for me in the entry by @therealpaul.
To best explain what that something is I'm going to pull a few chapters from his story:
With my supply of seconds running lower by the minute, there was no choice but to choose to find the joy within each of those seconds, instead of imagining my doom from now on.
With such a limited supply, I refused to let my few remaining minutes be spent churning over life regrets, or dreaming up the horrors of the future, entertaining the eventual death of a planet.
This is how I should have been living all along! But again, there was no time for regrets, and the joy that I had glimpsed in one of those moments became a tranquility that I had not known for many years-- perhaps even lifetimes.
We should all hope that news of our impending doom would transform us in such a positive way! (Or at least I hope it, which is why this is my pick ;) Congratulations @therealpaul, 10 steem has been sent to your wallet!
I broke the next two prizes into two categories- most realistic, and most creative with bonuses for inspiring laughter and tears. Laughter...check, check, check!
Sooo hard you guys, so many great entries! (Had to reiterate)
Annddd the winner of the most realistic is @rindaman1234:

I would do things far out from my comfort zone and make life incredibly easy for everyone around me, while at the same time doing things I would never do like: Running naked down the street, going to karaoke with my grandmother (she sings incredibly well), shouting in a supermarket that Cthulhu will destroy us all and passing by a pet store and feeding all the animals there.
Congrats @rindamin1234 5 SBD has been sent to your wallet!
Most creative was especially difficult to decide, so I elicited help from my family members. There were a few that had us laughing and at a stale mate so we ended up pulling some friends into the decision- @diebitch won it!

Earth is the worst punishment. I don’t think a dumber race exists in the milky way. Logic evolved out of this race or was never present.
Super funny and well written, Congrats @diebitch, 7 SBD has been sent to your wallet!
Because there were so many excellent stories I've decided to give out 2 SBD to five additional people!

A lousy street filled with everything that you could get everywhere else, and where you could meet everyone who didn’t matter. Maybe that’s why he had always liked it here. He quickened his pace to leave the big shiny buildings behind him. All those windows reflecting the sun, it made him think of everything he wanted to forget.
Beautifully written @nobyeni, loved it!! 2 SBD has been sent to your wallet ;)

The pilot handed me a headset after the coach and the other two passengers had jumped out and I slid it over my head. "Where are you wanting to go?" came through the speakers. I hadn't really thought of that part yet, but I asked if he could get us to a nice little island somewhere.
Took me on this entertaining journey with you @clayboyn, fun ride! 2 SBD has been sent to your wallet ;)

The will of man is the most powerful thing in this world we share. If you don't believe me, just look out your window. We have made this world ours, and though we may not have made it the way we would have liked, they, who are also human (as much as they might try to make you believe they're something more), have certainly made it how they wanted it.
Loved the message in this @son-of-satire! 2 SBD has been sent to your wallet ;)
The sky darkened in the way that reminded Michael of an eclipse, and some part of him still pretended it might be something so pedestrian. But the silent television in their kitchen lit up with breaking news and flashing red, and a scared announcer mutely read his teleprompter. After a moment, he shook his head and argued with someone off camera. Then he abandoned his seat, leaving the desk empty.
Veered into horror with an excellent twist- awesome story @negativer! 2 SBD has been sent to your wallet ;)
